Recently I evaluated one of the largest estates of my career.
I received an email from a gentlemen in Texas asking me about my services in regards to evaluating estate jewelry. I responded by saying I have many years of experience and knowledge, and evaluating estates is one of my specialties. A few weeks later, a local lady called to make an appointment for evaluating an estate. I had not put together the original email from Texas with this client until after we had established a wonderful rapport. Her friend from Texas had suggested my services based on my website and my return email. I was proud and honored to be referred to help this family with their estate jewelry.
A large estate of jewelry can be overwhelming for a family to evaluate. The matriarch of this family had spent a lifetime accumulating one of the largest jewelry collections I have seen in my career. There were all types of jewelry, from inexpensive costume, to a fine 18k gold ring. There were some very unusual and unique pieces from different eras.
The family members and I spent nearly five hours assaying the large collection. The family appreciated my suggestions for which items to keep, for handing down to the next generation. I used my knowledge, equipment, and experience to be as helpful as possible, knowing the love that was involved with this estate. There are some items which I purchased and many items went back home to be distributed to other family members.
