No engagement ring request is too outlandish for us to investigate.
A few months ago we wrote a blog in regards for an unusual request for a green diamond. As the event transpired and research was done my clients decided to go a different direction. During the research we found out that the wish did not determine the dream. We ended up looking at many different shapes and sizes of diamonds including princess, cushion, round, and Ascher cuts and determined that the cushion cut was the diamond of choice.
After determining the cushion shape we directed our attention to size and decided a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certified two carat diamond was appropriate.
Once the diamond had been selected and after listening to the direction of his girlfriend he decided on platinum mounting, with a European shank, and a matching channel set wedding band. A European shank is flat on the back of the finger which adds to the confort of the ring and helps keep the ring stable on the finger.
An interesting side note, the rings was make for a size three finger which will complement the cushion cut diamond. This may sound like a minor detail but from the carving the wax to stamping the platinum ring with the quality stamps the size has made every phase of construction a challenge.
