Beautiful sapphires - Available in every color.
Many people do not realize that sapphire, which is the mineral corundum, not only comes in its gorgeous blue hues, but also in every color in the rainbow. In addition to the popular blue, you can find pink, yellow, green, orange and white sapphires. These sapphire colors are unique to different continents across the world. Australia is know for its green sapphires, while many of the blues and pinks come from Myanmar (Burma). In the United States we are known for our Montana sapphires which are a beautiful blue green color. Yellow sapphires are usually found in Thailand.
Sapphires have long been associated with the values of nobility, truth, sincerity and faithfulness. Sapphires have also been closely associated with royalty. In ancient Greece and Rome royalty believed that blue sapphires protected them from envy and harm. In the Middle Ages blue sapphires were worn by clergy to symbolize Heaven.
One of our favorite sapphires are gemstones with a vibrant pink color. We have obtained and sold many through the years that are natural and carry a hot pink color. These definitely work well in bracelets, rings, earrings and pendants. Adorning the pink sapphires with diamonds complements the pink color as well as the diamonds. Because of the hardness and wearability of sapphires it is one of our favorite color gemstones to suggest to our clients. Sapphires are a 9 on the MOHS hardness scale, which makes them very durable for daily wear. Over the years I have built up a tremendous number of sapphire sources that I know and trust. There are many treatments that can be applied to sapphires to manipulate colors. Having reliable sources is the only way to know your gemstone is natural.
Here are some examples of sapphire jewelry we have made and sold over the years.
One of our most recent custom sapphire projects were a pair of custom wedding bands with a blue round sapphire center stone using a Celtic knot design. These rings came out especially well with the beautiful white gold medal highlighting the blue of the Ceylon sapphires we picked. We set the sapphires low in the metal to make the rings very wearable on a daily basis. Our clients are so pleased with their wedding bands. This was truly a fun experience.
