Emerald is the May birthstone. If your loved one was born in May and you'd like to give them a special jewelry gift, stop by Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler for a beautiful emerald.
Quoting from the Gemological Institute of America, here is some of the interesting long history of emeralds.
"Its name comes from the ancient Greek word for green, “smaragdus.” Rome’s Pliny the Elder described emerald in his Natural History, published in the first century AD: “…nothing greens greener” was his verdict. He described the use of emerald by early lapidaries, who “have no better method of restoring their eyes than by looking at the emerald, its soft, green color comforting and removing their weariness and lassitude.” Even today, the color green is known to relieve stress and eye strain."
We have great sources for genuine emeralds in all different shapes, hues, and sizes. We love to design fun jewelry using emeralds as the centerpiece or as accent stones. Here are some features we have made over time that feature the beautiful and vibrant gemstone - emerald.
With Spring here, we are thinking green at Richard Dolgin Private Jeweler. Complement those thoughts with a beautiful emerald for that Spring birthday, anniversary or special occasion.
